Charlotte and Max’s Chicago Botanic Garden wedding was joyful, personal, and full of thoughtful design choices that reflected how they wanted their guests to feel.
With a Rose Garden ceremony, cocktail hour in the English Walled Garden, and a McGinley Pavilion reception to close out the night, each part of the day had its own character. It was an absolutely stunning and floral-filled Chicago Botanic Garden wedding thoughtfully designed by our team.
This post highlights some of our favorite spaces at the Chicago Botanic Garden, along with planning considerations and design choices that shaped Charlotte and Max’s wedding.

One of the reasons couples are drawn to the Chicago Botanic Garden? The variety of spaces available within one venue. Each area has a completely different aesthetic and feel, allowing couples to create a wedding that feels distinctive rather than repetitive.
For Charlotte and Max, this meant choosing spaces that naturally complemented each other. An outdoor ceremony surrounded by blooms, a more enclosed garden setting for cocktails, and a tented reception space that still felt connected to the landscape outside. This created a beautifully cohesive experience.

The Chicago Botanic Garden is a well-loved venue for a reason, but it does come with a few important planning considerations. Having designed and planned weddings here, we’ve learned all the ins and outs. Understanding the logistics early makes the entire experience smoother and more enjoyable!

Charlotte began her day at the Deer Path Inn, a charming little manor only 15 minutes away from the Chicago Botanic Garden. Getting ready there gave her and her bridal party space to relax and enjoy the morning together.
Why the Deer Path Inn works so well for getting ready:
Charlotte’s look came together with soft glam by Bianca Sansosti Artistry and a Mira Zwillinger gown from Ultimate Bride.

The ceremony took place in the Rose Garden, one of the most iconic spots in Chicago Botanic Garden. Charlotte and Max exchanged vows beneath a chuppah with their closest family members standing alongside them.
This space works especially great for couples who want an outdoor ceremony that feels intentional and intimate. The garden setting gives a sense of openness while keeping guests closely connected.

Following the ceremony, guests gathered in the English Walled Garden area of the Chicago Botanic Garden for cocktail hour. This space naturally encourages conversation and connection, with its enclosed layout and lush greenery creating a more relaxed environment. It’s an absolutely gorgeous spot to host a cocktail hour.
A custom beverage cart featuring Charlotte and Max’s dog, Zelda, added a sweet touch. Garden umbrellas provided shaded areas throughout the space, making guest comfort feel just as considered as the design details.

The evening continued in the McGinley Pavilion, with dinner and dancing in a space transformed with florals, candlelight, and warm lighting by Frost. HMR Designs brought the garden feeling indoors in a way that felt cohesive with the ceremony and cocktail hour.
With BeatMix Music leading the celebration, the dance floor filled quickly and stayed lively all night long. The Pavilion was really a beautiful and ideal setting for Charlotte and Max’s Chicago Botanic Garden wedding reception!
Custom stationery by Steracle Press and a floral cake by Flourish Cake Design tied the design together perfectly. Their pieces reinforced the thoughtful, garden-forward look of the reception.

Planning a wedding at the Chicago Botanic Garden requires a thoughtful approach to how each space is used. Because the venue is expansive and largely outdoors, decisions around ceremony location, guest comfort, and weather considerations play an important role in shaping the day.
We made sure to choose spaces that feel distinct but complementary, planned for shade and accessibility, and were selective about design elements so as to allow the setting to speak for itself.
For Charlotte and Max’s Chicago Botanic Garden wedding, we really leaned into the setting and focused on what mattered most to them. As a result, their celebration felt welcoming, joyful, and true to who they are.
